Virtual Private Server Overview

ZZ Servers provides a powerful virtual private server platform (VPS) using Linux and the Xen architecture. You can configure your own server with complete root access or upgrade to one of our flexible management plans and let us take care of it for you.

Because we use the Xen, our VPS platform is lean and secure. Unlike other VPS platforms, we cannot oversell resources such as RAM. Our VPS servers have superb resource partitioning for CPU, memory, and block and network I/O. This resource protection leads to improved security and DoS-proof drivers.

Our servers use paravirtualization technology, widely acknowledged as the fastest and most secure virtualization method in the industry. We offer near-native performance for virtual servers with up to 10 times less overhead than other platforms.

Server Performance:

  • High-performance dual processor, quad core Xen servers
  • No overselling of RAM on servers
  • Bare metal performance
  • Instant upgrades: Add extras like more storage, more IPs, and more RAM to your account in real time (when available). This means you have a seamless upgrade path!

Powerful Servers:

All of our VPS servers use powerful enterprise-class hardware, such as our dual processor, quad core Xen servers, for a total of 8 independent processors or CPU cores per server. Depending on the application, each server also has 8 to 32 GB of high-speed server RAM, so there is always plenty of memory.

Operating System Variety:

Choose from any of our preconfigured operating systems and change them as needed:

  • CentOS 5.0
  • CentOS 4.4
  • Debian 3.1
  • Fedora Core 6
  • Gentoo 2006.1
  • Slackware 11.0

What is a virtual server?

A virtual server is simply a server operating system, such as Red Hat Advanced Server, SUSE SLES, or Microsoft Windows Server 2003, together with its application workload running on the server. Rather than controlling hardware directly, the OS instance accesses hardware through the VPS software, which also has the ability to share the hardware resources with other visualized OS instances and applications.
