Issues with Site Seals, Logos, etc.

Implementation of the Site Seal on the website will make your customers more certain that data transmission goes through a secured connection and that they deal with a verified Company (domain name), as the Seal can be installed only for a website that has an SSL certificate issued for it.

Site Seals can appear on a website as a graphic image (Static Seal) and as a pop-up (Dynamic Seal); Corner of Trust (TrustLogo) is available only with Organization and Extended Validated Certificates, and Thawte/Symantec EV Certificates offer malware scan with their Seals additionally.

The most common issues that can appear with Site Seals installation are:

  • Site Seal is not visible
  • Incorrect information for OV/EV Certificates
  • Incorrect expiration date on dynamic Site Seals

Usually, your Site Seal starts displaying within 2 hours after installation; in rare cases (like the first installation of the Seal provided by GeoTrust/Symantec/Thawte) it may take up to 24 hours for the Seal to be available, as Certificate Authority needs to add the common name to the database. Installation of Comodo TrustLogo requires uploading 2 snippets of HTML code, one should be before your tag and the second one before your tag. Those are provided in a separate email after the certificate is issued.

If you found out that the Seal displays incorrect information about your Company (company name, address, city, state and country) you will need to contact our Support Team, specifying the order ID and correct information to place.

If an incorrect expiration date is shown on the dynamic Site Seal after the Certificate’s reissue or renewal, you will need to remove the seal from the website code and reinstall it once again, in this case 24 hours are required for the information update to take effect.

A troubleshooter related to more specific issues with Comodo TrustLogo installation is available here.
