Chesapeake, VA — ZZ Servers is pleased to announce its sponsorship and support of TiaraCon, an inaugural two-day conference created to advance the careers of women in the cybersecurity profession. The free event for cybersecurity and Information Technology professionals will be held Aug. 4-5 in Las Vegas.

Women account for 10 percent of the cybersecurity profession and only 1 percent of the leadership in the industry.

TiaraCon provides an opportunity for women to come together, further advance their skills and grow their networks, said Sarah Clarke, organizer of the event.

ZZ Servers Managing Partners Peter and David Zendzian, who have been friends and colleagues of Clarke for years, chose to support the event, Peter Zendzian said, because of TiaraCon’s mission to create a forum for women in the industry to talk, share insights, network and “do all the things business people would do without the fear of misogynistic attitudes or other problems that have afflicted the information security industry in the past.”

David Zendzian will attend TiaraCon and assist in event security.

“There’s been anonymous threats and misogynistic statements in the past about women in the industry and there’s just no place for that at all,” David said. “I’m there to be supportive of women in the industry and we’re confident that this is going to be a showcase event for the information security industry.”

TiaraCon is hosted by DC503 and connected with DEF CON, the international information security event held in Las Vegas at the same time.

“This is not an event where it’s hostile to males,” Clarke said. “It’s pro-everyone. It’s community funded and the idea is to have an event that changes things and flips them on their head. It’s never been done before and the inclusivity is the biggest reason I’m excited.”

Planning for TiaraCon has been in the works for a year and Clarke pointed out that one of the 10 founders is a man: Pablo Breuer, a computer and network security executive based in California.

“The support has been crazy,” Clarke said. “Everything I need has just come. I genuinely believe that this is something that’s supposed to happen.”
